2020 Campaign: 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

UNODA is implementing a 16-day social media campaign from 25 November to 10 December 2020 for the 2020 Campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The 16 Days of Activism is a worldwide campaign calling for the elimination of all forms of gender-based violence (GBV).

This year’s theme by IANSA is “Ceasefire Now! Stop gun violence in our homes, on our streets, and on the battlefields”. The 2020 UNiTE Campaign’s theme is: “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!”

The proposed strategy will be implemented in line with UNODA’s work on gender and the project in support of gender mainstreamed policies, programmes and actions in the fight against small arms trafficking and misuse, in line with the Women, Peace and Security agenda, including the respective communication strategy developed under the project.

The general objectives are to ensure the visibility and relevance of UNODA’s work on eliminating GBV and to promote activities carried out and key messages developed in the framework of the EU funded project on gender-mainstreaming small arms policies.

Message of the day

On #humanrights day, let’s recall the resolutions adopted by @UN_HRC on the “Impact of arms transfers” 👉 bit.ly/3qAzRcJ & “the Regulation of civilian acquisition, possession & use of firearms” 👉 bit.ly/3qFKLhk. They remind us that #genderequality = #humanright, and that #armscontrol matters to achieve both. #16Days

Today we conclude our #16Days campaign in which @UN_Disarmament joined @SayNO_UNiTE & @IANSAnetwork to showcase how #disarmament and #armscontrol help to eliminate #GBV. Please join us as we to continue this important work every day. #OrangeTheWorld
